Choose A Vehicle For Remote Transportation Needs

Working in a remote area may restrict how many vehicles can access unpaved areas that are hilly. If you are torn between purchasing an ATV or a UTV, consider the use-value of each vehicle type.

An All-Terrain Vehicle

An ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) is designed for recreational purposes. This type of vehicle may contain a limited seating area that will only support the transport of one person. Handlebars are typically used to control this type of vehicle. Three or four wheels will be secured to the base of an ATV. A recreational vehicle may not come equipped with safety features or may contain a limited amount of features.

Although this type of vehicle can be used to access remote regions, it may not be practical to operate this type of vehicle if a lot of items need to be transported. An ATV can be equipped with a hitch, which will allow an end-user to transport materials behind them.

A Utility Terrain Vehicle

A UTV is a rugged transport vehicle that contains four wheels. This type of vehicle is marketed as using a 'side-by-side' seating design. The side-by-side feature will allow more than one passenger to sit in the seating area. A large UTV may feature double rows of seating. This type of vehicle could transport an entire crew who will be working on a logging operation, a farming project, or another outdoor task that is located in an area where paved roads are not located.

Unlike an ATV, a UTV will contain a steering wheel. This type of steering component will allow a driver to maintain full control of their vehicle, in the same manner that they are accustomed to operating their car or truck. A UTV will contain a braking feature that can be accessed on foot. Some UTVs may feature a windshield and a rooftop. These accessories will make a UTV practical for use during rainy weather.

A soft or hard top canopy may extend over a UTV. Some manufacturers may not equip their line of UTVS with a windshield or a canopy. If a stock model UTV is purchased, an end-user can upgrade their vehicle. There are many accessories on the market that can aid with upgrading a vehicle. A cargo area may be located behind the area where a driver and passengers are seated. A UTV can also support the use of a hitch and trailer. A UTV that comes with safety features may include a rollbar and seatbelts.

About Me

A Profitable Hobby

Since childhood, one of my cousins has been enthralled with auto racing. When he was a kid, he even raced miniature, wooden cars in competitions. After graduating from high school, he attended NASCAR school. Unfortunately, he was deemed too small to be able to realize his dream of working on a professional pit crew. After completing his education, he returned home to work as a mechanic at a local auto dealership. And, he keeps his auto racing hobby alive by entering local racing competitions. I’m proud to say that he’s won more trophies than I can count. So far, his hobby has been a profitable one. On this blog, you will discover the types of equipment needed to enter a local auto race.
